He named the nar "The Yak and Yeti". Early Everest expeditions put up there and used the grounds to organise their gear for the climb. The present hotel is located at the site of an old palace that was at one time the foreign post office for Kathmandu. The present day hotel was built up around and incorporating the old buildings.
